So last night for dessert I tried out Heidi Swanson’s recipe for Lemony Olive Oil Banana Bread. I have never been let down by one of Heidi’s recipes thus far so I wanted to give one of her desserts a try. I love the combination of banana and olive oil and just happened to have enough lying around to make it. I thought the addition of lemon zest really brought an interesting accent to the bread but the chocolate killed it for me. I am honestly a bit shocked by this seeing as I am a bit of a chocolate fiend. Maybe the recipe just calls for too much of it but it seemed to overpower all the other flavors in the bread. My boyfriend thinks it may just need to be balanced out by some walnuts but I think taking the chocolate out altogether would make this a more enjoyable bread.
